Your self esteem involves how you view yourself, your abilities and how others view you and your accomplishments. When an individual thinks poorly of themselves, believes they will always fail at whatever they set out to do and/or believes other people surrounding them thinks ill of them and their accomplishments, there is low self esteem.

Self Esteem encompasses every aspect of an individual’s life. It touches your private life and how you interact with your family; your social life; your career and even your pastimes and hobbies.

Raising your low self esteem is not only an important part of meeting your goals, but it is critical to leading a happier, more successful life and career. Almost any task we undertake requires high self esteem in order to be successful. You must believe in yourself and your abilities in order to meet your full potential. Not only is it important to create and maintain high self esteem in order to be more successful and productive, it is also critical to leading a healthier lifestyle. In some cases, it can literally be a life or death situation. Low self esteem often results in depression. In very severe cases, low self esteem that leads to depression can be responsible for serious tragedies.


There are many varied ways an individual can raise their low self esteem. Some of these techniques involve getting help from low self esteem counsellers, while others involve a series of steps that can be accomplished throughout the day in relative privacy.

By all means, if your low self esteem is serious enough that it is causing you to have feelings of harming yourself or others, take a step forward and get counseling for self esteem help. There is nothing to be ashamed of about having low self esteem. Failure to treat it is the shame.

One of the most private techniques to use to help low self esteem is taking a look at past failures or negative mindsets. Perhaps it is merely accomplishments you attempted but were unable to achieve. Or maybe there was someone in your past who berated and belittled you, whose comments caused you to have low self esteem. Whatever the source, take the time to recognize this and then do away with it. Use imagery if it helps. Imagine tossing those failures or comments to the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen again. Feel the freedom to meet your potential.

Another technique to raise low self esteem is to keep a record of your achievements, no matter how minor they may seem. To boost your self esteem, review these accomplishments often. This will go a long way towards replacing low self esteem with positive self esteem and you’ll soon be surprised at how truly wonderful and talented you really are!
