Kaizen Philosophy

Kaizen philosophy

I first learned about the word "kaizen" while reading a motivational book by Tony Robbins. Kaizen is a Japanese word that means: continuous improvement in all aspects of your life. Mr. Robbins met the founder of Toyota, where this philosophy was implemented in the factory contributing to the major success of Toyota.

Continuous Improvement

Kaizen is a philosophy that focuses on both on the process and the results. In a nut shell, the whole course of action or goal is review constantly to minimized faux pas along the way. The approach for learning is receptiveness, acceptance and non-blaming. This process creates continual growth. Click here to learn more about this philosophy.

What we need to do

Everyday we need to do small actions to improve an aspect of our life. We need to take any form of action, immediately! Have you decided on what you want? Yes, no? That is the first step. Creating or having a goal (Brian Tracy is the guru of goal settings.) Then, any miniscule action towards that goal will create a movement towards your big picture. The most important part is to take some kind of action in the direction of the change you desire. Creating a continual movement. If you do not get the result you were looking for, you need to take a different approach. You must pause, re-evaluate and perform an action once again. Continuous improvement.

Let's see

  • Change your eating habits; change your grocery list, try new recipes, reduce your unhealthy intake of food or beverage.
  • Change your sedentary life; change your shoes and go for a walk, walk around the block, smile to a few people along the way.
  • Change your overly busy schedule, change your allocated time for TV by 30 min less. Go to bed earlier (it will give you more energy and your mind will not be as cluttered thus you will do more during the day.)
  • Change your negative attitude; change your thoughts, catch yourself and rephrase it in a more positive way.

Granted that it will not always be easy, but continuous small changes will impact your life, it will improve your life. You will be on your way to continual improvement, for the better.

Dr. Robert Maurer author of One Small Step Can Change Your Life also uses the kaizen philosophy. Listen to a free audio clip from Dr. Robert Maurer:

One Small Step Can Change Your LifeRooted in ancient Asian philosophical systems and utilized today by major corporations, inventors, athletes, governments, social and business leaders, and highly successful people from all walks of life, kaizen is an amazing practice that yields extraordinary results with virtually no effort at all! One Small Step Can Change Your Life will put the power of this potent force into your hands.

It is a matter of doing an action. Small as you may think, it will make a difference in the end. Post "Kaizen: continuous improvement in all aspect of your life"; on your mirror, on your dashboard or your computer where a glance at it will refresh your memory. That will do the trick! It does for me.

Kaizen everyone!
